Mason Andrews AKA Scorpio Sky recently agreed to do an interview with TNAsylum. After fielding questions from our readers, the X Division competitor more than willingly answered them all. Below is the interview:
Are you currently under contract with TNA? If not are you getting good vibes about a future in the company?
I am not currently under contract with TNA; I'm a free agent. When I was there they seemed pretty happy with me so we will see if/when anything develops.
How was your experience working with TNA the past few weeks?
I really enjoyed it. I believe TNA is a good fit for me; and that I could do very well there. They are a good company to work with and they took care of me very well. I take my hat off to them, and wish to thank Dixie, Lagana, and everything else that made working there such a pleasure.
What kind of feedback have you received following your IMPACT Match and Destination X Matches?
All the fans seemed very happy to see me there. New fans and the ones that have been following me for years. I think they feel the way I do, Scorpio Sky in TNA is a good fit. Like a glove! I get tweets every day from people all over the world saying they can't wait to see me on Impact again. I enjoy it and want to thank all the fans new and old for their support.
Who came up with the name "Mason Andrews?" Do you prefer to use this name instead of your more popular Scorpio Sky alias?
Well if I had my choice I would be Scorpio Sky, but at the end of the day a name is just a name. As long as the name on the check is right I'm a happy guy ;) Andrews is my last name, and Mason came from the "Rocky Balboa" movie. I'm a HUGE fan of those flicks and boxing. In "Rocky Balboa" Antonio Tarver's name was Mason "The Line" Dixon. So that's where we got Mason from.
Who in TNA would you most like to work with?
There's SO much talent there I don't know where to start. Kazarian & Daniels are guys I've faced on the indies and we always had great matches. I would love to face them on Impact. AJ Styles & Samoa Joe are guys I never got to mix it up with but obviously those guys are 2 of the best in the game today. Of course Kurt Angle whom I believe is probably the best wrestler of the past 10 years. Like I said, Scorpio Sky in TNA is a good fit. There are so many guys there I can tear the house down with.
How was it wrestling in three matches in one night topped off with competing in your first Ultimate X Match?
That was one hell of a night; and believe me once I got back to the hotel and the adrenaline wore off, I felt it! lol But how many guys get 3 matches on live PPV they're first time out? So it was an experience I couldn't be more happy about. The Ultimate X match is somethin' else man. It's something you cannot explain unless you've actually been in it. Such a rush.
If you come to TNA, will the Scorpio Sky Experience come with you?
I would absolutely love that! But obviously that would be up to TNA.
Of the four matches you had in the past few weeks, which one would you suggest fans watch to get a good idea of what you bring to the table? Which of the matches best defines who Scorpio Sky is?
Man, that's a tough one. I would have to say the 4 way "Last Chance" match AND the match vs. Kid Kash combined into one since they were back to back. I think it shows 2 very different parts of me. In the first match my flashy style, and in the second my ability to take punishment, keep moving forward and fight my way to victory. That's the best way of showing people who I am. They were 2 very different matches and it shows I can go with any style, at any time.
A colleague of yours in Joey Ryan is currently involved in a "spat" of sorts with Taz and TNA Gutcheck. What are your thoughts on this whole situation?
That's a tough one. Joey is an incredible entertainer, so I hope they make up and decide to work together. That's all I can really say about it.
What are your thoughts on Austin Aries winning the World Heavyweight Title? Is he bringing in a new boom period specifically for Independent Wrestlers wanting to make a name on the national stage?
I think the boom is already here. With guys like CM Punk, then Daniel Bryan. Austin Aries is another name on the list of guys that were big on the indies and were able to become stars on the big stage. I think fans are tired of seeing the guys that are just massive and don't know the difference between an arm bar and a protein bar lol. It's good to see real hard work & dedication paying off.
How satisfied are you with the performances you gave during your TNA run?
I'm pretty happy with my performances, but I'm my own worst critic and I can pick up on holes in my game and know I can do so much better. So if you see me in a TNA ring again, believe I'll be better every time.
How did you originally get contacted for the X Division Tournament?
Well you know I was supposed to do it last year. I got called a year ago to be in the same series that had Austin Aries, Zema Ion, and all those guys. The problem was I was tied up in a bad contract with another company. So I wasn't able to do it. This year's X Division Tournament was a year in the making for myself. So when I got the call I was more than ready.
Of the other participants (excluding yourself) in the X Division Tournament, who do you feel most could help the X Division?
I cannot honestly give you ONE name. Lars Only is a close friend of mine and I think he did great but you only saw the tip of the ice berg of how good he actually is. Kenny King is an improvement to any company he's with. Rubix, Sonjay, Flip, so many guys did well. If it were up to me we'd all get hired lol.
What does the future hold for Scorpio Sky?
I'm definitely looking to get into one of the big two companies. And I have a feeling you'll see me working for one of the two before too long. Other than that watch my work with NWA Hollywood which I believe has all the potential in the world to become a number 3 if the cards fall into place. So keep watching them on NWAHollywood.com.
Any final things you want to say or plug?
Follow me on twitter, @ScorpioSky and you can keep up to date on what is next for my career. Follow @NWAHollywood and my boy Lars Only @YumaBooma. Thanks to everyone showing support and hopefully you'll see me on your television again very soon.
We would like to thank Mason for sitting down with us. On behalf of TNAsylum, we hope to see you in the IMPACT Wrestling ring soon.
